A few of my favorite things…

I realize that this is a nail polish blog. But there are other things that I am just as interested in as nail polish…and I really wanna talk about them! So today I decided to do a post about my absolute must have beauty products. There’s a pretty good list, and I’ll go into detail with each product pic below!

image

First up is Benefit Pore Fessional primer. I sampled this in Sephora a cpl of months ago and fell in love with this product. I have oily skin…and large pores on my cheeks. This makes my pores literally INVISIBLE, cuts down on shine…and leaves my face silky smooth…I use it over moisturizer and its my very first makeup step EVERY day.

image

Sephora eye primer….my everyday #2 step. This helps my eyeshadow and liner STAY. Like, for real. It comes out of the tube white, and dries sheer and matte.

image

I hate to sound a little ocd….but this is literally my 3rd makeup step everyday lol. This is a fantastic eyebrow gel kit from ELF that I got from Target for a BUCK. When filling in your brows…you never wanna use black…its a good idea to use a shade lighter if u have dark hair…and a shade darker if you have light hair. This kit also comes with a tiny brush that is firm enough to fill in your brows mimicking hair strands, and a powder sealant that helps your brows look very natural.

image

Makeup For Ever concealer palette…..ohhh this palette….I saw a couple of different reviews and youtube tutorials for this online around Christmas…and I walked into a Sephora store and up to an associate and said “I want to buy this palette, but first I would like to know how to use it. Could you help me” She sat me down and showed me how to use each and every color in this kit. Sooooo the first three colors can be blended to find your custom concealer color. The concealer stays…is not oily or greasy…and can be layered. The dark color is for contouring….slimming your nose, cheeks, chin, forehead…etc. The bright orange color is for highlighting…basically for bringing more light to the darker areas of the face. Worth EVERY PENNY.

This product I stumbled upon at Ross. I found a kit that contained three pigment colors, a brush, and this eyeshadow base. I wasn’t too excited about it at first…but then I put it on under a bright eyeshadow and whoa….the color! This base goes on your eyelids only…and dries to a pale matte finish. When you put a shadow over this…the color POPS. And this, combined with my Sephora eye primer, makes my eyeshadow literally last all day…and the color stays true and bright. The brand is Bella Pierre.. and it can be found on their website.

Last for this post is my Bare Minerals precision face brush. I’m not exactly sure what this brush is “supposed” to be used for….foundation? Powder? But I use it with my Makeup For Ever pressed powder. It gets just the right amount of product on the brush…and blends really well. I think it’d be good to use for a bronzer as well.

Well that’s it for now….I have a bunch more pics of other eye and lip beauty faves for the summer that I would love for you to check out….so stay tuned…another pist will be up in a couple of days. Have a wonderful day loves…:-)

It’s been quite a while!

Heeeeeyyyyyyy folks! I know you probably thought I’ve forgotten about my blog. And for a while, I didn’t know whether or not I wanted to continue blogging. Since starting cosmetology school in February, I have been increasingly interested in beauty products, and, of course, hair! I have so much to share….I’ve had so many great experiences while getting my education in this field, and I’ve met some amazing ppl.. made some new friends!

I have some nail looks coming up from some new(er) polishes I have…and also…I had the great idea to do a post on my favorite beauty products of the moment.

Before alla that…I wanna show off some looks I’ve done in school!

image

About a month after school started, we mixed up icing to top these cupcakes with the colors of the color wheel. Learning about the color wheel is the foundation for being able to identify and mix color. It was alot of fun.. and tge cupcakes were DELISH.

image

This client is one of my regulars….she came in one day with hair past her shoulders and said, chop it off! This is what we came up with….it looks gorgeous on her, brings out her eyes, and she’s been rocking this short spiky cut ever since!

image

School bff! This chick started school with dark brown hair down her back…then went red, then blond, then PINK, and now back to red. I have also cut her hair several times….and in this pic it was put up with all the curls coming to one side.

image

Before pic of a mannequin…she originally started with dark brown hair, I gave her highlights some time ago. Last week I wanted to give her more color sooooo…

I absolutely ADORE this color combo! I used orange and red haircolor from Wella to create this look.

Last but certainty not the least…me and my red hair! There are SO many things I love about this pic…this was taken a little under a month ago…I’m now growing in my sides so I can have a bit of length on each side, but I will still be rocking my mohawk! In this oic I’m also wearing my absolute favorite red lipstick.. which I will discuss in a future post.

Have a great weekend folks! See u soon!

Some Recent Nail Looks…

Hi all! Hope you guys are having a good week so far. I have been a busy bee at school…I feel like I’m a sponge, just trying to soak in every teensy bit of information about facials and waxing and hair cutting and classic styling! Its been one month since I started cosmetology school, and I am still excited to wake up at 6am everyday to go to school, lol. Here are a couple of nail looks I’ve been wearing over the last two weeks:

Essie Turquoise and Caicos

Hello! Today I have for you a very pretty creme from Essie, called turquoise and caicos. This is a color that reminds me of something from the ocean, seafoam maybe? I’ve had this polish for months, but looking at it in the bottle in my shelf it didn’t look like much to me. Once I put it on my nails, I fell in love with it! I think its a very fashion forward color, and I plan to rock this for the rest of the week! The formula on this polish was okay, a bit watery and thin. The pics are three coats.

First Week of School Mani

image

Hi peeps! I hope everyone is doing well and had a great weekend and a happy vday! School is kicking my butt, when I get home I only want to crash in my bed, much less do things like paint my nails and cook dinner for myself and the wife. I am trying as hard as I can to get myself on a schedule, so that I can bring a bit more organization to my life. Wish me luck.
This is the manicure I wore during my first week of school. Its my attempt at nail art (or at least a little bit of nail art) and I think the overall look is really cute! Hope you enjoy!
The pink on my nails is Pink Hot Pants from Ruby Kisses Neon polish line. For my accent nails I used a black striper polish over white polish.

I’m back!

Hi peeps! Its been a while since my last post. I took the rest of last week off to spend time with the wife before her vacation ended, and before I started school. Which brings me to SCHOOL!!!!! Omg, its an amazing experience! Its only been a week and I honestly want to squeal with excitement everytime I walk in the doors. Literally! I truly feel as if I am on the right path, finally. Its an extremely satisfying feeling.🙂🙂🙂

Now on to the nails! Last weekend I went to visit with my grandma that lives in down south Fl. I wanted an overall look that was fun and I wanted to try something a little different too. Sooo I went with gradient nails. But the gradient where you use a polish in the middle to draw squiggly lines in the middle. Unfortunately, I have NO idea what its called. Anywho, NAILS!

image

For this look I used my homemade franken for the base, a coral nail art striper polish for the middle, and Loreal’s Caught Red-Handed for the nail tip. Here’s more pics!

Caught Red-Handed!!!!

image

Hey peeps. Heading out for some fun while the temp here in Fl is still decent! I just have a quick post today, a polish I picked up last week at CVS. Caught Red-Handed is a gorgeous fire engine red creme that screams sex appeal. I LOVE this polish! I am wearing this manicure for the rest of the week. I am taking a cpl days off from blogging to enjoy some time with the wife before she goes back to work in a few days and before I start school. I hope you all have a great rsst of your week! Enjoy the pics below and if you have been in the market for a new red, this is it!

Have a wonderful rest of your week!!!

Mahogany Magic

Hello! Day two of vacay! As promised yesterday I have Mahogany Magic from China Glaze’s Hunger Games Capitol Colors Collection. This is an intense creamy milk chocolate brown that glides on extremely smoothly. The pics are two coats. I used this to create a franken, but I’m not sure if I would ever wear this color on its own. Formula was great, I used two coats to reach full, creamy opacity.

My Absolute Favorite Franken EVERRRRR!

Hello! Its Monday….yaaaay! Lmao. I’m only excited about it being Monday for two reasons. One, today my honey starts her vacation, so no work for a week! I have been looking forward to this week for about two months. We definitely have some fun planned for this week! And two, because this is my last week before I start cosmetology school. I am extremely excited to start this new phase of my life, and shopping for school clothes and supplies has been really fun.

Sooo today I have my very first franken to show you. I originally showed it in this post, but when i went back and looked at it I realized that I had not shown the base color very well, nor were there enough pics in good lighting. A little backround on this franken, I hadbeen looking for the perfect nude for AGES, and since I couldn’t ever get my hands on one I decided to make it. For this franken I mixed together Loreal A Walk On The Beach which I’ve already showed you here, along with Mahogany Magic from China Glaze, which I will be showing you tommorow. Perfect!

Sigh. I love this color. SO. MUCH.
And by the way, I AM feeling better, thank you very much for the well wishes!

Sally Hansen’s Sonic Plum

Hey people! Still not feeling the greatest, but since I’ve been home I’ve had time to do some swatching. Today’s polish is an absolutely GORGEOUS purple polish, that I have recently discovered called Sonic Plum.
image

When I decided to swatch this, I honestly wondered why I don’t ever wear this polish. The color is really stunning. I love Insta-Dri polishes, I always use two coats but you can honestly get away with one. Application was excellent, very smooth and dried very fast. The pics are without a topcoat.
